SALINE DEPOSITS AND ALKALINE MAGMAT1SM:A GENETIC MODEL

نویسندگان: ثبت نشده
چکیده مقاله:

The temporal-spatial coincidence of saline deposits with rifting and alkaline magmatism has now become a commonly accepted fact. The congruency of these three phenomena implies logically, their trilateral genetic interrelation. The conventional concept for the formation of saline deposits, i.e an "evaporation process" can not be properly applied to giant saline deposits. The proposed "Volcanogenic hlodel" offers a genetic explanation for problems encountered. The role of alkaline and calc-alkaline magmatism in producing saline and sulfate deposits and the application of the proposed model in each case is discussed. The term "saturites" is proposed instead of "evaporites".

Silicon Improves Maize Photosynthesis in Saline-Alkaline Soils

The research aimed to determine the effects of Si application on photosynthetic characteristics of maize on saline-alkaline soil, including photosynthetic rate (P n ), stomatal conductance (g s ), transpiration rate (E), and intercellular CO2 concentration (C i ) of maize in the field with five levels (0, 45, 90, 150, and 225 kg · ha(-1)) of Si supplying. Experimental results showed that the va...

Soil physiochemical characteristics of Lycium depressum Stocks. habitat in saline and alkaline rangelands in north of Golestan Province, Iran

Over the last five years, restoration and rehabilitation projects in saline and alkaline rangelands at north of Golestan Province in Iran through plantation of Lycium depressum Stock. have not achieved any success. One reason behind this lies in the lack of knowledge about relations between the soil and plant. This study aimed at assessing and comparing soil physiochemical characteristics insid...

Determination of Soil Salinity in Frankenia hirsuta L. Habitat (Case Study: Saline and Alkaline Rangelands of Golestan Province)

Soil salinity is one of the important factors which can influence the growth anddistribution of plant species. Saline and alkaline rangelands of Golestan Province, Iran withlow-deep underground water level are considered as a halophyte plant species growing area.Attempts have been made to determine soil salinity and its relationship with Frankenia hirsutaL. In order to determine the Electrical ...

Inhaled isotonic alkaline versus saline solution and radioaerosol clearance in chronic cough.

The aim of the present study was to test the influence of inhaled isotonic Ems salt (brine from the spa of Bad Ems, Germany) compared to isotonic saline on radioaerosol clearance (RC) in patients with chronic cough. Ems salt is an alkaline solution (pH 8.0-9.0) containing largely bicarbonate ions rather than the chloride ions present in isotonic saline (pH 6.4). RC was assessed with a radioaero...

Geochemical characteristics of naturally acid and alkaline saline lakes in southern Western Australia

Abundant shallow saline lakes on the Archean Yilgarn Craton in southern Western Australia exhibit a rare spectrum of geochemical conditions. Here the field geochemistry over three seasons (pH, salinity, and temperature), as well as major ions, trace elements, and H, O, and S stable isotopes of surface waters and shallow groundwaters from 59 ephemeral lakes in southern Western Australia (WA) are...
